What should you expect in a visit?

Expect a relaxed atmosphere with the focus being God on His throne. Our typical service is two-hours long including Chronological Bible Storytelling, worship and praise and expository verse by verse preaching.

Calvary Chapel Githurai has been formed as a fellowship of believers in the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Our supreme desire is to know Christ and be conformed into His image by the power of the Holy Spirit. We are not a denominational church, nor are we opposed to denominations as such. We believe that the only true basis of Christian fellowship is His (Agape) love, which is greater than any differences we possess and without which we have no right to claim ourselves Christians.

We believe worship of God should be Spiritual. Therefore we remain flexible and yielded to the Holy Spirit to direct our worship.

We believe worship of God should be Inspirational. therefore we give a great place to music in our worship.

We believe worship of God should be Intelligent. therefore: our services are designed with great emphasis upon teaching of the Word of God that He might instruct us how He should be worshiped.

We believe worship of God is fruitful and transform lives. therefore we look for His Love in our lives as the supreme manifestation that we have truly been worshiping Him.

Our Story...

Calvary Chapel Githurai began as several Bible studies around Githruai 44 and 45 in 2006. The vision was to know the word of God so we can worship the God of the word and be transformed. By early 2007 we organized into a church and began holding Sunday meetings in a rented school hall near our current building. Though we used the name Calvary International Fellowship, the church was affiliated as part of the Calvary Chapel Movement, begun by Pastor Chuck Smith in California, USA. The church steadily grew in depth of relationship with God and width of number of attenders.

By late 2009 God had blessed His work to a point that Calvary was blessed to send its associate pastor to Kisumu to begin what has since become Calvary Chapel Lakeside. Pastor Stephen and his wife Maureen continue to love God and that church is now an independent and affiliated Calvary Chapel.

As we have come to more passionately know and worship God we have also come to desire to make Him known more. Through prayer He has allowed us to be involved to reach out into Tharaka, Maasai Land and other areas. We sit back, give God all the glory for what He is doing in and through Calvary in Githurai.
